Turn every drive into an adventure

Throughout December, we’re showcasing some of the sweetest cars that Turo owners have to offer with our “12 cars of Christmas” blog series. Start ticking cars off your must-drive bucket list, or get inspired to rent out your killer ride and share the love with other car aficionados.

Cody loves Jeeps. So much so that while he’s building up his retirement fund, he’s charting a move from the Dallas/Fort Worth area to Colorado to open up a full-time Jeep rental business.

And why Jeeps? “They’re unique. You never see two Jeeps that look exactly alike,” he explains. “Every Jeep owner does something to make it distinct in some way. I have four (three of which are listed on Turo), and each is completely different; each one has its own personality.”

One of his (and his guests’) favorite destinations for his 2015 orange Wrangler named OJ is Fossil Rim Wildlife Center (pictured above and below), a refuge for endangered exotic animals just south of Dallas. “You can take any old car in there, but it feels like a real safari in a Jeep. Sometimes you’ll see emus, oryxes, even cheetahs; it’s pretty cool,” he says.

Other adventuring types have road tripped to Austin, and others as far as Massachusetts or Yosemite in Cody’s Jeeps. “We offer unlimited miles,” he says. “These cars were made for adventuring so we don’t think people should feel restricted.”

“A lot of the time people just go out cruising. They drive out to the lakes and rent paddle boards for the weekend,” he says. “Last month, a Harlem Globetrotter rented OJ,” and his little blue Jeep (aptly named Lil’ Blue) is currently being rented by Santa Claus. “No really,” he jokes, “he works as Santa Claus at malls during the holiday season.”

Cody loves his Jeeps, and he loves sharing them with travelers who share his spirit of adventure. Next time you’re visiting the Dallas/Fort Worth area, chart new paths in one of Cody’s Jeeps, or at least go visit the cheetahs down south.
